Tillie Lewis - Region 3

​Hi everyone! My name is Tillie and I am part of the region 3 Sodexo/URI MSDI program. I am based in Manhattan, where I have lived for the past 5 years. Recently, I finished my clinical rotation which has taught me more than I could have imagined. While we do learn a lot of MNT and disease states in undergrad, it is very different from dealing with it in person. I valued the connections I made with the patients, while some were more difficult than others. It's important to meet people where they are at and take each interaction with kindness and empathy. 
 
I am currently in my second week of my concentration rotation, which I chose to do Critical Care MNT. Meaning that I am still at my same clinical site, but working more concentrated in the ICU. I am really enjoying having harder cases to deal with, writing and calculating TPN, and conversing with the interdisciplinary team to provide the best care for our patients. 
 
While this program has been a lot to juggle with the rotations, grad school, and a job – the hard work will be worth it in the end. Time management, a good support system, and taking time for yourself are the best ways to get through this journey. The preceptors I’ve had have all been wonderful and the Sodexo team is always there to answer any questions and support in any way they can.
