Follow Me for a Day!
-Cassandra Redfern an Intern in Intermediate Clinical-

6:00am- Wake up! I am definitely a morning person, because I like being up early and breakfast is my absolute favorite meal. It’s very busy in the mornings at the hospital so I know that I usually don’t get to eat again (except a quick snack) until around noon.

6:15am- Get dressed. I always pick out my outfit, shoes, and accessories the night before to save time in the morning. I also have several roommates that I don’t want to wake up early, so I make sure everything is ready for me in the bathroom for the morning.

6:45am- BREAKFAST
I prep as much food as I can the night before to shorten the amount of time I have to prepare in the morning. I usually have eggs with different veggies, seasoned potatoes, and some fruit on the side. I like to put chicken sausage in there and lots of cheese J Today’s breakfast has spinach, tomato, onion, potatoes, cheese, and 2 eggs, with a clementine on the side. I had cut all the veggies and sausage and potatoes the night before and put them in tubber ware until the morning when I cooked them.

7:05am- 45-minute drive to the hospital and listen to serial killer podcasts on Spotify (so good!)

8:00am-10:30am- Prep for the day, level patients, and take notes on patients due that day.

Snack time! Had a lemon Luna bar (the best flavor- don’t lie)

10:30am- rounds with interdisciplinary team

11:30am- see patients

12:00pm- lunch time THANK GOODNESS
I meal prep for the week on Monday’s. I make sure to make lunches for Tuesday-Friday so that I can bring my own lunch to the hospital. I use a program called Everyplate which is like Hello Fresh. I get 3 meals a week (6 servings total) for 32 dollars. It’s a great deal!
Today’s lunch was roasted chicken, a Greek tomato and cucumber chopped mix, and rice. So yummy! I also had a bag of grapes and some chocolate covered pretzels (I forgot to take a picture-sorry!)

1:00pm-4:00pm- work on notes and see additional patients

4:00pm- 45-minute drive home and jam to music to decompress after being a human sponge all day. Ate some popcorn!

5:00pm- I went to Crumbl Cookie to only get one cookie but left with 6 whoops… but we love BALANCE

5:45pm- Spin class
I didn’t want to go at all! In fact, I almost cancelled. However, I know that exercise is an outlet for me, and I always feel better after. I was exhausted, but a consistent workout routine is so important for my mental health.

7:00pm- DINNER with my roommates and cat!
Today’s dinner was two beef tacos with lettuce, onion, tomato, sour cream, and cheese. I refuse to eat Mexican food without sour cream.

7:30-8:30- Homework and studying

8:30-10:30- Shower, prep for the next day, watch a tv show with roommates
