Graduate Degree or Dietetic Internship?
Are you interested in pursuing a graduate program (GP) with the goal of earning an MS degree and becoming eligible to take the RDN exam in 12 months? Alternatively, you might prefer a flexible MSDI program that allows you to complete your studies at a slower pace over a period of 19 months. If you already hold an MS or higher degree and are seeking a standalone dietetic internship, we also provide that option. We offer these three programs to cater to your specific needs, enabling you to personalize your experience.
1) Sodexo Dietetic Internship (DI)
For applicants with a masters degree (or masters degree in progress), we are happy to offer a free-standing internship option only, with interns completing 1024 hours of supervised practice. This option is available for both applications cycles on DICAS.
2) Graduate Program (2 Options)
URI Sodexo Graduate Program (GP)
(Integrated Experiential Track) Available for Sept Start; application is now open on a rolling basis via DICAS In our partnership with the University of Rhode Island we are proud to offer an innovative Future Education Model Graduate Program that integrates master’s level coursework and supervised experiential learning in one program to meet the 2024 entry-level RDN requirement. Students become MS, RDNs in 12 months under the Future Education Model Standards. International students under F-1 and J-1 visas are not eligible to enroll since it is a fully online program. |
Sodexo Dietetic Internship with Master's Degree (MSDI)
(Individualized Experiential Track) Available for February Start; apply in Summer via DICAS This program option is specifically designed for individuals who hold a bachelor's degree and desire a flexible route to complete both the internship and master's degree. The internship component will commence in February after orientation, and it will be followed by the graduate degree program at URI starting in September. Once the master's degree is successfully obtained, students will be eligible to take the RDN exam. |
For all programs, the experiential learning in the clinical and foodservice management settings will take place in Sodexo managed healthcare, corporate, and university settings.
Applicants to our program do not need to find any placement for these two rotations, which are completed in Sodexo-managed accounts.
You will be responsible for finding preceptors for the community, long-term care, and specialty rotations, after acceptance to the program. Your program director will be able to assist you with this.

Rotations and Hours Overview
In our program you will complete 1024 hours of experiential learning, which is about nine to ten months in length at 32 hours per week (four 8-hour days per week in the supervised setting), which is our standard. During this time, you will complete our core curriculum rotations, which consist of the clinical, foodservice management, community, and long-term care as well as your five-week specialty rotation. In order to offer flexibility for your educational journey, we are pleased to accommodate interns who are interested in a part-time option, requiring a commitment of 24 hours per week in a supervised setting with prior arrangements. Our DI and MSDI options are more suitable for this purpose compared to the GP option. For more information on the part-time option, please see our FAQs page and don't hesitate to reach out to us.
