The Sodexo dietetic internship has provided me with connections, experiences, and confidence needed to start my career as a dietitian. From match day I was so impressed with the internship staff and the way they welcomed and accepted us as new interns. Throughout my internship I was fully supported by my directors as they continuously provided me with guidance personally and professionally. With such a wide variety of concentrations, I was able to gain experience in areas of the field in which I previously had not known existed. During my clinical rotations I was fortunate enough to work with over 8 dietitians in multiple areas (burn ICU, ICU, renal transplant, pediatrics, oncology, cardiac) who all provided me with new perspectives and knowledge on medical nutrition therapy. I also completed my master’s degree through the University of Rhode Island in combination with the Sodexo internship. This option benefited me immensely, as not only did I walk away with my master’s degree in just one year but was also able to apply the information being learned in my courses, directly into my rotations. Sodexo prepares their interns for success during and after the dietetic internship. I am now excited to say that I am employed full time as a Clinical Dietitian with Sodexo!

I began my journey with Sodexo as a Dietetic Intern in Little Rock, Arkansas. During my internship I was able to find where I saw myself working within the dietetic field. As an intern I enjoyed the strong support system that came with Sodexo, from site managers to internship coordinators. After completing my internship I had easy access to a worldwide net of job opportunities and recruiters. The excitement of a new opportunity has led me to working with Sodexo in New York City where I am now a Clinical Dietitian. I am excited to continue my journey with Sodexo and look forward to opportunities to come!

As a recent intern graduate and new hire at the MUSC (Region 7) site, I can say without a doubt that it is a wonderful environment to learn and grow. During my internship, The Medical University of South Carolina allowed the opportunity to gain insight into a wide array of inpatient and outpatient rotations including specialties like Transplant, Bariatrics, and Cystic Fibrosis. My preceptors were not only incredibly knowledgeable but fantastic teachers, allowing an appropriate balance of independence and support. Now, I have been able to transition into my professional career as a Registered Dietitian at this same site. Being surrounded by such high quality RDs has helped to shape my own clinical practice style, and the opportunity for growth and continued education provided by Sodexo has allowed me to continue to build on my knowledge and skills for the future.

I believe that the Sodexo DI has equipped me with the skillset necessary to lead a successful and meaningful career as a Clinical Dietitian. From day one I was surrounded by positivity and support from both the internship directors and preceptors. I was able to personalize my experience to build the knowledge base that I needed in order to function as an entry-level dietitian upon graduation. During my clinical rotation I had the opportunity to spend an extra 5 weeks in the ICU for my concentration hours and gained the experience necessary to accept my first position as a Clinical RDN with Sodexo before my DI graduation date. I will forever value the education I earned through Sodexo DI’s partnership with the University of Rhode Island and I am excited to put my skills and education to work throughout my career! If you are considering joining the Sodexo DI, just think of the education and career opportunities that you are gaining interning for the largest private employer of RDNs in the US!

I consider myself very fortunate to have been a part of Sodexo’s dietetic internship. I was given the opportunity to work with experienced professionals in all aspects of nutrition including clinical dietitians, managers, and head chefs. Each preceptor was equipped with their own unique set of skills which provided me with a well rounded education. I appreciated how every assignment prepared me for the upcoming rotation and allowed me to better understand each subject before I had to put it into practice. I especially found this helpful during my clinical rotation. This program will provide you with the tools and experience you will need to begin your career and furthermore it will give you the opportunity to pursue your own interests. The directors are with you every step of the way to answer your questions, give you feedback, and help you find your rotation sites. I highly recommend this program and encourage any future RD to consider Sodexo’s dietetic internship.

The dietetic internship at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC, Region 7) went above and beyond to prepare me for my career as a registered dietitian. This internship was my first choice due to its breadth of experiences, incredible teaching hospital environment, and the ability to tailor the internship to my specific interests and career goals. During my time at MUSC I gained experience in a multitude of clinical and community settings while receiving training from skilled and supportive preceptors. In addition to this, the DI director went above and beyond to make sure the interns’ needs were met. We were provided with experiences tailored to our particular career goals, culminating in a two-week elective rotation of our choosing. I made so many professional connections throughout the internship that I was able to design a unique rotation of my own focusing on research and policy. The knowledge and experience I gained during my time as an MUSC intern have served me well in my career. I cannot recommend this site enough!

I was initially drawn to the Sodexo dietetic internship for their tailored programs and locations. I quickly learned there was so much more to love about it. I was absolutely blown away by the professionalism and genuine care I experienced with my internship director and others that I worked with along the way. Having a cohort of other interns alongside me gave me additional support and allowed me to build lasting relationships. This was a huge benefit to the Sodexo program. It was great to choose my concentration and have the flexibility with my community rotation to ensure I got the experience I wanted and was passionate about! I also took the opportunity to do the University of Rhode Island's master's program which is designed to work with the internship and have compatible assignments. I would highly recommend this option! Once the internship was over, I was able to connect with a recruiter and had a seamless experience during my job hunt. I am now proud to apart of the Sodexo team!

I knew Sodexo was the perfect internship for me because it allows the freedom to create your own community and concentration experiences without the pressure of finding a clinical site. Especially during this time, with so many unknowns, having supportive and experienced directors has given me the confidence to adapt to new circumstances and get the best learning experience from this year.

I wanted to commend the strength of Sodexo's dietetic internship that has been demonstrated during this challenging time (COVID-19) with suspensions of interns’ rotations at multiple sites and to praise our current intern, Julie, in particular. Julie is a very strong intern and very well-prepared. She is intrinsically motivated and studies material on her own time. Julie said she feels well-supported and challenged by the internship process. We are lucky to have her! I look forward to continuing our partnership with your program.

The Sodexo Distance Internship Program is by far one of the best programs to prepare dietetic interns to become eligible and quality Registered Dietitians.  Sodexo Interns are more than adequately prepared for their rotations.  They are organized, knowledgeable, highly motivated and easily integrated into our team.  When our interns have completed their rotations, it is often a sad day to say good bye, as they are high functioning contributors to our department, whether it be providing community outreach events, completing staff relief for our dietitians or playing an integral role in our food service operation.  This past year, we had an amazing intern, Deb Miller, who had the opportunity to be involved in our 5 day Joint Commission Survey as well as months of the COVID pandemic.  Not only were these excellent experiences to have as an intern, but we were so fortunate as an organization to have an intern during these times.  Deb was in her CNM rotation and patient services rotation leading up to and during the TJC audit which allowed the management team to prepare adequately, have an extra set of hands in the kitchen to allow for more oversight and have a successful audit.  During COVID, Deb was able to complete her staff relief, which was of great value, as we were on-boarding a new dietitian and another of our RDs was on a personal leave of absence.  There was no delay in clinical nutrition care for our patients during these unprecedented times.  Having Deb complete her staff relief rotation allowed the on-site RDs a little extra time to review all the new changes associated with COVID (best practices for nutrition support, enteral feeding in the prone position, managing pump shortages, etc).  Our Food and Nutrition Services Department values and supports our Sodexo Dietetic Interns.  We miss Deb greatly and we eagerly await our next DI!  Thank you, Sodexo!

When I started my journey to become a Registered Dietitian, I was prepared for all the classes I had to take, and I knew that applying to internships was a critical point in the process. After looking through 130 internships, Sodexo Dietetic Internship remained my first choice! I was over the moon with joy when I matched! This Internship is truly unique from the level of support provided by the directors (they were always available to guide and support their interns) to the richness of the rotation opportunities (with the addition of interesting concentrations and amazing sites available). Additionally, I learned that I was far more independent and structured than I expected, which helped me with the next part of my journey, passing the RD Exam. Passing this exam was not easy, but I felt prepared due to what I learned in my internship and the many practice exam questions they provided. After passing, I was grateful that my directors helped me create a competitive resume and upgrade my professional portfolio. This made finding a job (even in a pandemic) easier! Honestly, If you are thinking about applying to Sodexo Dietetic Internship, it's a no-brainer! Follow your gut instinct (no pun intended).

I can’t say enough good things about this internship! It opened so many unique opportunities that, I feel, most other internships don’t. I was especially impressed by the number of concentrations that this internship allows their interns to choose from. I was able to accomplish so many of my professional goals, including becoming a graduate student and, inevitably, receive a Master’s in Nutrition and Food Sciences. I have made so many wonderful connections with my fellow interns as well as professional RDN’s. The homework assignments were highly correlated with my hands-on experience and helped me to be more confident in my nutrition knowledge as a dietetic intern. I felt like I had a strong support system from the Sodexo directors and fellow interns. I loved every experience and I am so excited for the next step in becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and the opportunities that will open for me! Thank you to the Sodexo distance team for seeing my potential and choosing me to be one of your interns! Thank you for everything it has given me! Thank you!

“The Sodexo Dietetic Internship has allowed me to network with like-minded individuals who share a passion for nutrition and helping others. Despite being a distance learning internship, I felt so connected with my fellow interns and enjoyed collaborating on various projects and rotation activities. I also enjoyed discussing important nutrition topics each month during our monthly skype meetings where we rotated roles of facilitating, presenting, or participating in discussion. We named our chat group the "Fantastic Four" because we were the only four interns of region 10 based in Houston, Texas. We supported each other throughout the entire internship and I am so thankful for Sodexo Dietetic Internships leading me to such a great group of future dietitians!”

My experience with Sodexo Dietetic Internships has shaped my future career in a way I never thought possible. The directors and preceptors throughout my experience were dedicated, supportive and inspiring. The hands-on education and supervised practice that I received for the past 9 months has well prepared me as an entry-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. The internship made finding a job effortless. I completed my internship in May, passed my exam a few weeks later, and started work immediately. Not only was I hired at the site where I interned, but I got the position I longed for in long term care, as I was a Senior Living concentration intern. The entire process was seamless from start to finish and I couldn’t be happier with my choice of DI program.

The Sodexo Dietetic Internship program has provided me an opportunity to explore the field of dietetics based on my interest. I had the opportunity to work with various age groups which helped me to understand their needs. Most importantly, the internship staff provided wonderful support during my journey as a dietetic intern. I am stepping with confidence to start my career as a "Clinical Dietitian" in a hospital setting.

From the start, the Sodexo Internship and programs directors exceeded my expectations. Knowing that I had a special interest in pediatrics, they tried to provide me with every opportunity within the field. One highlight of my time in the internship was spending part of my clinical rotation at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. All the program directors, went above and beyond, allowed me to be an independent learner and yet were never more than a call or e-mail away when I had concerns. I feel they had a personal stake in my success and did everything they could to ensure it. Another great aspect of the internship was the abundance of study materials and practice exams to help prepare me for the RD exam. Thanks to Sodexo’s structure and support system, you truly will feel ready for anything that may come your way on test day or beyond!

I believe I was blessed with one of the very best internship experiences an intern can ask for. The full support of the internship directors has allowed me to exponentially grow into a professional. I am very satisfied with my experience with Sodexo Dietetic Internships and very grateful for the lifelong skills I acquired and refined during this period. I am ready to jump into the professional world and I couldn’t have done it without all the support I have received in the past 10 months.

As a Sodexo Dietetic Intern (2019-2020), I felt mentored throughout clinical nutrition and supported to explore my own interests through the elective rotation of my choice.  I chose the "Leadership Rotation" where I created and implemented an independent project, "Mindfulness + The Sylvia Center".  Over the course of 3-months, I attended a mindfulness training, created mindfulness videos, and led a staff training for a culinary nutrition education program (The Sylvia Center) that brought cooking classes to K-12 students.  The Sodexo Dietetic Internship also engaged me in a rigorous 5-months of clinical nutrition, that led me to being hired as a Registered Dietitian at the hospital where I interned!

The Sodexo Dietetic Internship was my first choice because of its flexibility to pursue specific areas of interest. I was happy to find that they were just as advertised throughout my internship. The directors are quick to respond to emails and support the interns any way they can. Being able to set up rotations in the area where you would like to practice allows the intern to establish very valuable professional connections. The interns choose from a variety of concentrations including critical care, leadership, diabetes, senior living, pediatrics, weight management, wellness, and culinary. Spending 232 hours in your specific area of interest allows you to gain valuable experience and skills to become a well-rounded entry level dietitian.
