Hey y’all!

It’s now officially college football season in South Carolina! Besides the internship (always number one), my priorities currently include cheering on the Clemson Tigers and hosting successful game-day tailgates.  With thorough planning, I attempt to create healthy, nutritious options for guests.  Also, considering these September tailgates take place outdoors, in 80-90 degree temps, I make sure to consider food safety.  Below are some tips for a healthy tailgate and a favorite football recipe of mine!

Healthy tailgating tips:
  1. More fruits and veggies! Fruits and vegetables make great vessels for different dips.  When possible, substitute fruits and vegetables for chips and crackers.
  2. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Keep water stocked at the tailgate. Make sure you and your guests drink plenty of water.
  3. Exercise! It’s possible; play fun tailgating games like corn-hole, or toss around a football.
  4. Keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot! Make sure perishable items are kept insulated or in a cooler filled with ice.

Avocado Ranch Greek Yogurt Dip

Ingredients:
1 large avocado
 1 ½ tbsp lime juice
1 package Hidden Valley Greek yogurt dip ranch mix
1 c. fat free, plain Greek yogurt

Directions:  whisk ingredients together in a medium bowl and serve with carrots, celery, peppers, or a vegetable of your choice!

**Remember to keep dip on ice or store it in your cooler.
