Get Engaged with Your Local Grocer!

When there is a choice of where to shop for groceries, do you choose the one that stretches your money even further? The days of chasing down weekly advertisements are pretty much over, as many stores will match any sales price. To get an edge over their competition, it is no secret that many corporations have shifted their focus to connecting with communities. Here are some easy tips to get started, and stay informed as you choose where to shop:

Download the Company App/Sign Up for a Newsletter - Get familiar with the format and content. If the company is too centered on ‘daily deals’ and you are swamped with ADs, you have the power to delete it or unsubscribe.

Make QR Code to the Community Section of the Website: Find a free site like http://www.qr-code-generator.com/. While following the easy steps to made a QR code, paste the section of a grocer’s website that has a ‘calendar of events’ or ‘weekly deals’. You can resize and print out the QR codes for the grocers in your area on one sheet.  Keep the paper on your refrigerator or in your car. Snap it as you are writing your grocery list and see what is going on at the stores nearby. It saves time in the long-run, and leaves you with more space on your smartphone! (Search “QR Code” in your smart phone application store and download a QR code reader for free. Scan the photo with this article to test it out!).

Follow Your Store’s Page on Facebook, Twitter, or other Social Media: Often the big corporations have individual pages for local stores. Many customers often feel comfortable reviewing companies on these sites. Take time to research any questionable criticism before choosing sides or responding!

Provide Feedback: Sharing any feedback upon your next visit to the store is a great start. Writing the feedback on social media allows your idea or comment to gain momentum even quicker!

Ask What Events are Coming Up Related to Health/Wellness: Take the opportunity to share an idea for an event you would like them to host down the road!
