Margaret Merlie - Allentown Campus

I have had so many great experiences during my time in the Sodexo dietetic internship – Allentown Campus. I have recently finished my food service management rotation at Vangaurd, where I was able to have a wide variety of experiences.  My preceptor trusts me with a variety of tasks, whether it is making items for the salad bar, running the deli or grill stations, or managing staff while she is at another site. I have also had the opportunity to help with two large events.

One event, Partnership, provides free breakfast and lunch to all employees. I had the opportunity to help with event preparation and execution. Although there was plenty of preparation done prior to the event, it was still a fast-paced day.  We were constantly cooking additional food, replenishing all supplies, and maintaining food safety. Many of us who used pedometers that day tracked more than 18,000 steps! Overall, it was a fun day for both Vangaurd and Sodexo employees, and it gave me more confidence in running a large-scale event.
