From a young age I knew that I wanted to help people, I just didn’t know how. After growing up surrounded by a family in food service management and being instilled with good nutrition growing up, I decided to keep the tradition of food in the family, just from another direction! As a Sodexo intern with the Philadelphia campus I have been able to immerse myself into the growing world of dietetics. After my clinical rotations ended at Virtua hospital in South Jersey, I was able to focus on the area I was most interested in, Wellness, where I remain now.

When I think of wellness, I envision being able to connect with people and share facts and tidbits about nutrition presented in a way that is fun and easy to understand. I am fortunate to have participated in some amazing outpatient opportunities through Virtua including general weight management counseling, diabetes classes, OB nutrition counseling and a medically supervised weight loss program. I will even be attending a 76ers basketball camp and will be able to spread the joy of nutrition to children! While I loved my time spent in my clinical rotations, I feel that the outpatient setting is much more conducive to learning and where you can really draw in people of all ages to appreciate nutrition. If someone is able to take away one thing from what I’m teaching, I consider it a success!

As I move on to my food service rotation next, I will be placed at Temple University, a Sodexo campus account. I feel the time I spend there will only make my experience as an intern even more well rounded and exciting. This internship is the best time to do as much as I can, and I have certainly taken advantage of the opportunity I’ve been given!
