Hello everyone! My name is Kayla Wenner, I am currently a Sodexo Dietetic Intern and a member of the distance cohort; I am doing my rotations in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I love snacks, and for this reason it’s necessary for me to have healthy options available at all times.
I enjoy overnight oats because of their simplicity. Essentially all you need to make these work are plain oats and some type of liquid. Because of that, you can create many delicious versions of them! Mix vanilla almond milk, vanilla extract, a little maple syrup and you’ve got a slightly sweet original. Or add in milk, yogurt, dark chocolate cocoa and chopped strawberries for a dessert that will satisfy any sweet tooth! The best part is they take little preparation, and they keep for a long time.
What’s even better? Oats have slow digesting fibers that digest slowly, which means they stay in your stomach longer and keep you full for an extended period of time. Add in milk, yogurt, or yogurt for a protein boost, top it with some fruit and you’ve got a well-rounded snack anytime of the day.
