Hello! My name is Heather Krick, and I recently started my Food Service Management rotation at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA. I am currently working with the Unit Marketing Coordinator to implement changes in the dining hall based on student feedback. We placed multiple signs on the walls letting students know that they can text our team or fill out feedback cards to make suggestions. Our most recent changes include adding chocolate milk to the milk station and adding various spices to the condiment table. We also make sure students have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options at each meal period of the day, indicated by various signs throughout the hall. The food service team also sees the importance in letting students know where the foods is coming from and how they are specifically prepared. For example, the chefs at |
U. Sciences freshly cut the fries and hand press the burger patties for a more satisfying meal! There are also flyers spread around the dining hall with information regarding the local vendors who provide our produce and dairy to the kitchen.
What’s next for U. Sciences? Maybe a halal section, maybe special social media posts on healthful recipes, maybe a Harry Potter themed meal – we’ll just have to wait and see when the magic happens!
