Healthy Doesn’t Sell?
At The Queen’s Medical Center, I am working with the team of RDs to plan our National Nutrition Month events. We are working on a variety of ways to incorporate the “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right” celebrations into our facility’s dining room. As in previous years, we plan to highlight a weekly “RDs choice”, a healthy showcased meal.
Mindful by Sodexo® is full of excellent recipes, including a variety of pan-Asian inspired recipes that fit the needs of our community here in Hawaii. Unfortunately when presenting our selections, we sometimes hear,  “Healthy food doesn’t sell!” You can imagine the steam coming out of my ears when I hear this. As  dietitians and interns, it is our job to share the facts and figures when it comes to supporting healthy initiatives. I’ve shared an article by Forbes which supports the findings that healthy food does indeed sell. Let’s continue to keep choosing healthy,  nutritious, affordable food as a priority in our community!
