Matcha has become one of the new, hot wellness trends for 2016. Food bloggers have been incorporating matcha into their recipes and companies like Teavana and local coffee shops are adding it to their menus. Matcha is a powdered green tea that is traditionally grown and produced in Japan. The matcha powder can be used to make teas, as well as added to smoothies, pancakes, soups, pudding, guacamole, muffins, cookies, and other baked goods. It’s becoming popular due to its high antioxidant content that may help to fight free radical damage protecting against heart disease and cancer. Matcha Breakfast Bowl
Ingredients
- ¾ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp matcha
- 1 blood orange or other citrus fruit, peeled and slices
- A palmful of almonds, pecans, walnuts, or cashews
- 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Add the yogurt to a bowl and sprinkle over the matcha.
- Drizzle in the honey and maple syrup and whisk thoroughly.
- Pour into a serving bowl and top with sliced oranges and crumbled/chopped nuts
