MISSION OF THE Sodexo, HEALTH CARE SERVICES DIVISION DISTANCE EDUCATION DIETETIC INTERNSHIP: To train dietetics professionals by providing high quality, self-directed, and individualized educational experiences in a flexible manner to meet the unique needs of each dietetic intern.

PROGRAM GOALS

 
  • The program will prepare competent graduates to demonstrate leadership, self direction, critical thinking, and strong communication skills in all areas of dietetics practice.
  • The program will prepare graduates to seek employment with Sodexo.
  • The program will seek nontraditional students with culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • The program will provide a variety of experiences which meet each intern's individual needs, and foster a spirit of ongoing self-directed learning
  • The program will use technology to enhance communication and learning among interns and preceptors.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

GRADUATES OF THE Sodexo DISTANCE EDUCATION DIETETIC INTERNSHIP WILL:

  • Achieve entry level competency in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and foodservice management
  • Think critically and analytically to formulate appropriate solutions to complex problems
  • Consider age, cultural, ethnic, economic and educational factors affecting patients, clients, and/or employees, with an awareness of individual needs and limitations
  • Demonstrate initiative, self-direction, and leadership in meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing society
  • Engage in positive, ethical and professional working relationships with patients, clients, staff, employees, and other members of the health care team
  • Anticipate challenges and communicate effectively using a variety of creative resources and formats
