 PROGRAM COSTS

Intern expenses will vary depending upon the intern’s living arrangements and lifestyle.  In general, expenses include, but are not limited to:

  • Application Fee:  $50.00 non-refundable for one emphasis (general or pediatric); $75 non-refundable for both emphases.

  • Tuition:  $7500.00 - A non-refundable $1000 deposit is due by June 1 for the August class and by December 1 for February class.  The remainder of tuition is due on the first week of orientation. Our refund policy is:  Within 30 days of start of the program, 25% is refunded, after 30 days, no refund.

  • Health Insurance:  Interns must provide their own health insurance. A medical clearance form must by provided by the intern prior to starting the dietetic internship program.  The medical form will be sent to the intern with the acceptance letter and contains OSHA required immunizations and tests, as well as, a signed statement by a physician medically clearing the intern to begin the program. Professional liability insurance is provided by Sodexo.

  • Criminal Background Check: Interns are responsible for the cost of doing a criminal background check, which Sodexo will complete.  Cost varies depending on state and the number of places the intern has lived in the last 7 years.  Average cost is about $60, but may be more or slightly less.

  • Housing:  Interns must provide for their own housing.  This expense will vary according to their living arrangements.

  • Transportation:  Interns are responsible for means and cost of transportation.  The amount of time and cost will vary depending on how far the intern lives from the rotation sites.  Interns are liable for safety in travel to and from their assigned areas.  Since the interns are responsible to complete their rotations at numerous locations, travel can differ from week to week.  Many facilities provide free parking, but interns may have to pay for parking in some rotation sites.

  • Meals:  Lunch meals are provided to the interns at free or reduced costs while at Sodexo sites.  Occasionally, interns will be asked to provide their own lunch.
  • Lab Coats:  All facilities have a professional dress code which include comfortable closed toe shoes.  A lab coat is required and is provided by the intern.

  • Other Costs:  Most program materials will be provided at no cost to the interns.  However, textbooks are required to be purchased (if not already owned from college) at a cost of about $200.  Most other texts are kept in the dietitian’s offices and can be borrowed by the intern.  Other costs would include photocopying and presentation materials.

  • A car and valid driver’s license is necessary for traveling to classes, facilities and off-site activities.

  • Interns are responsible for all costs associated with transportation of any type.

  • Professional liability insurance coverage is provided by Sodexo.
