GRADUATION
REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of the Dietetic
Internship is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all rotations,
assignments, and other program requirements within the scheduled time frames.
Interns who successfully complete the internship are eligible to
sit for the national registration examination to become a Registered Dietitian.
Graduation ceremonies are usually held during
the last week of the internship.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is required for
all classes, rotations, and special programs unless the intern is excused in
advance.
SCHEDULES:
Individual weekly schedules
are planned and distributed by the intern’s preceptor. Generally, the schedule
is a 40-hour week, Monday though Friday. Days and hours may vary, however, due
to the requirements of individual rotations, assignments, or other scheduled
activities.
EMPLOYMENT:
Some interns have been able
to hold part-time employment during the internship program. We recognize the
need for income; however we stress that the Dietetic Internship should be the
intern’s first priority and expectations of interns do not change due to
employment status.
INSURANCE:
Sodexo does not provide
health care or accident insurance for interns. It is the intern’s
responsibility to obtain this coverage and are strongly encouraged to do so.
TRAVEL:
Some local travel is
expected from the intern, therefore, reliable transportation is required. The
principle requirement is travel to and from sites where classes are held, to the
intern’s account, or to other affiliations.
RETENTION:
Intern retention is of
utmost importance and every effort is made to retain 100% of interns who begin
the internship.
Interns who drop out of the
internship or who are dismissed due to poor performance or other failure to
comply with program requirements will not be reinstated nor will tuition be
refunded. If the intern desires, he/she may reapply at a future date.
