Sodexo's Allentown, PA based
Dietetic Internship originated in 1982. The program began as a dietetic
internship sponsored by Wood Dining Services and Lehigh Valley Hospital both
located in Allentown, PA. In the late 1980's, Wood Dining Services recognized an
increasing need to hire registered dietitians in contracted long-term care and
acute care facilities. At the same time, dietitians who were employed by Wood
Dining Services expressed a desire to pursue registration while continuing to
work part-time. In 1990, Wood Dining Services was granted approval from the
Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) to sponsor a
part-time AP-4 program.
In July of 2001, Wood Dining Services
was acquired by Sodexo Alliance. Sodexo Alliance was founded in 1966 in
Marseilles, France. Beginning in 1985, the company quickly moved into the U.S.
market through several acquisitions and mergers. In North America, Sodexo
operates in hospitals, long-term care facilities, corporate headquarters,
manufacturing plants, colleges, universities, prep schools and military bases.
Sodexo retains 50% of the outsourced market in North America.
In October 2003, our program was
granted Initial Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics
Education of the American Dietetic Association, 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite
2000, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, (312) 899-5400. In June of 2002, we were granted
approval from CADE to increase our number of intern's from 8 to 10 per year.
Sodexo's Allentown-PA based Dietetic Internship has graduated over 100
dietitians since 1982 is now one of six dietetic internships offered by Sodexo
in the Continental United States. |
