Completion of the dietetic internship is contingent upon achievement of the required competencies, which are outlined by the Standards of Education of the American Dietetic Association.

All interns will be expected to achieve a satisfactory rating on each of the competency requirements outlined in the self-study program document. Each rotation is planned to enable the intern to meet these competency requirements. Rotation evaluations will state specific performance results and the need for improvement with an action plan when necessary.

All of the competency requirements must be completed within the program calendar year in order for the intern to graduate from the dietetic internship. The internship will be extended for interns who are unable to complete the competency requirements by the date of graduation for approved medical and family medical leave absences only.

A graduation ceremony will be held one week following the last scheduled week of the dietetic internship program.

Interns will be given official and completed American Dietetic Association Verification Forms by the program director when all of the program requirements have been satisfied.

Interns who have satisfied all of the requirements of the dietetic internship and who have received completed Verification Forms will be eligible to write the Examination for Registered Dietitians.
